There aren’t too many iPhone apps out there that can walk away from a radical price slashing and still boast a price tag that would bring you half-way to an iPhone 3G. TomTom for iPhone is just one of those rare iPhone apps. From now until December 28th, TomTom’s GPS navigation app for the iPhone is just $49.99 on the AppStore [iTunes link]. That might sound like a lot, but compared to the original $119.99 asking price, the current sale price is a bargain.
Despite the relatively steep entry fee, TomTom for iPhone has done quite well for itself. In the third quarter of this year, the popular iPhone app was purchased 80,000. Adding a couple zeros to account for the app’s full price, and TomTom comes away with more than $8 million in Q3 revenue from one iPhone app. TomTom can certainly afford to slash the price for a couple weeks.
Keep in mind, this offer only applies to the US version of the TomTom app.
