Apple may be celebrating its 3 billion app download mark, but other members of the community are happy as well. As a matter of fact, Gameloft announced that it has reached the 10 million paid downloads milestone in the AppStore.
From the official release, we find out that the holiday sales were driven by the huge success of N.O.V.A.- Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance and James Cameron’s Avatar, with both titles selling like hot cupcakes across all key markets. For instance, N.O.V.A.- Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance was the #1 best selling game in the U.S and Japan; #2 in France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Canada and #4 in the U.K. and Italy. James Cameron’s Avatar secured the #1 spot in France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland; #3 in the U.K.; #4 in the U.S.; #5 in Canada and #6 in Italy.
In addition to success of the two mentioned titles, other top sellers over the holidays included Driver, Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X, Asphalt 5, The Settlers, Skater Nation and Shrek Kart. During the whole 2009, top Gameloft titles also included Dungeon Hunter, Modern Combat: Sandstorm, Let’s Golf, Uno, Gangstar West Coast Hustle, Assassins Creed: Altair Chronicles and Real Soccer 2010.
For the record, Gameloft ended 2009 with 55 iPhone games, 35 of which were launched during the year.
