Google cooking up another Nexus One 3G fix?

Looks like the last OTA update for the Nexus One seemed to be focused primarily on features, rather than fixes. The update that enabled multi-touch in the Browser, Gallery, and Maps applications also promised to fix the 3G problems that had been plaguing Nexus One users since the launch of the device. Now that the update has reached the majority of Nexus One users, it seems the problems still persist. But, there’s still hope. Google may be working on a fix to the Nexus One’s 3G issues.

Apparently, there is a newer ROM floating around the XDA forums, which some have said that has improved their 3G connectivity, amongst other things. It seems the real work has been put into the part of the code that controls the GSM radio. People who have installed it without the rest of the ROM have seen less fluctuation in signal and better signal strength overall. Only time will tell if this is indeed an official update that will begin to roll out in the near future, or if it is just a half-baked version of a future update. Some users have reported success, while others have not, so it is not advised to try this out just yet if you are unsure of what you are doing.

If this update is coming sometime in the near future, I hope Google packages it up with some extra features like the last update. Something small, but useful, like Flash 10.1? That’s not asking too much, is it?
