For those who are not in the know for that Flyscreen is, it’s a lock screen replacement for Android. When the phone is woken up from it’s sleep state, Flyscreen presents the user with customizable widgets that link up to Twitter, Facebook, weather, sports news, finance, etc. With the newest update, the guys at Cellogic have added Foursquare to the bunch.
Along with Foursquare, Flyscreen houses quite a few options for the user. From checking your E-mail to seeing whats going on with Google Reader, the app is very functional. If the application does not have one of the RSS feeds that you check up on regularly, don’t worry, you can add up to ten custom RSS feeds as simple as adding the URL. You can rearrange the widgets to your hearts to desire, and removing them is just as easy.
The best thing about the application is that it is synced to its own website. Some options aren’t available directly through the application, and you must go to the website to add it. This can be somewhat irritating to some, but it’s not much of a big deal. All you need to do is log into the website, and add and remove widget options from there. It then syncs up to your application, and you are good to go. Pretty easy.
The inclusion of popular social-networking service in Flyscreen should make some people happy. You don’t need to have the Foursquare application installed at all, just add the widget in settings, log in with your credentials, and you’re good to go. If you have GPS enabled, all you need to do is swipe over to the Foursquare widget on Flyscreen, and it will automatically start searching for places around you. While it may be easy to use, every function you may be used to in the regular Foursquare application may not be there. But this is a good version one, and it will only get better with time.
