Samsung is out with yet another South Korea-only device called Anycall Extreme (SPH-W9705). As you can guess from its name, it’s a sporty-lookin’ rugged device made from reinforced plastic that helps saving it from accidental damages. Moreover, we’re talking about an IP54 dust and water certified phone that can work in extremely low and/or high temperatures.
In addition, this clamshell integrates electronic compass, altimeter and SOS function. KT will sell the Samsung Anycall Extreme for 400,000 won, which is about $354.
Speaking of rugged handsets, it’s not usual that we see such phones being offered by Samsung. Is this a part of the company’s goal to extend its market and reach customers who may’ve been looking for something different? In that sense, should we expect to see more similar Samsung products released in the near future? It’s hard to tell at this moment, but we know one thing – Samsung is one smart company with ambitious plans. We’ll certainly keep watching for any news coming out from Korean peninsula…
