Remember when we told you that most, if not all, T-Mobile retail channels had drained their HTC HD2 inventory? The Windows Mobile 6.5-powered smartphone from HTC surprised everyone with its block-busting launch that left T-Mobile stores high and dry for HD2’s in less than two days of sales. Well, today, T-Mobile has apparently re-upped their HD2 stocks, and is again offering the multimedia beast for sale through its online storefront.
It’s not clear how many T-Mobile retail stores have restocked the HD2, but it’s good to see the online store getting back into the swing of selling the big-screened smartphone from HTC. For those of you interested, T-Mobile is selling their HTC HD2 for about $200 with new 2-year contract. You can also buy it contract-free for $450 or finance the handset for less then $23/month.
What does all that green buy you? Well, first there’s the gloriously expansive 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen display that throws out 800 x 480 pixels, then there’s the 5-megapixel camera with touch-focus controls. Toss in a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor, some 3G data, WiFi, GPS, microSD card slot, 3.5mm headphone jack, and add a sprinkling of Blockbuster movie downloads and mobile TV, and you’ve got a Windows Phone that will make the rest of its kind hang their heads in shame.
The bad news is that Redmond may never grant the HD2 a chance to play with an official Windows Phone 7 ROM. But, that hasn’t stopped developers/hackers from porting Windows Phone 7 Series to the HD2 – making the HD2 look even more attractive to fans of big screens and serious multimedia capabilities. As such, you’ll probably want to jump on T-Mo’s renewed HD2 stock soon. You never know how long it will take the masses to clean T-Mobile out of their remaining HD2 inventory.
