Any tourists here in Ottawa, Ontario will want to check out the new BlackBerry application for the Museum of Civilization. It offers two 40-minute audio tours with extra visual aides, maps of the gorgeous four-storey building, and movie times for the domed IMAX theatre and other events hosted there.
It’s too bad that the other big destinations in the area, like the Museum of Nature, Museum of Science and Technology, the War Museum, Parliament Hill, and the National Gallery don’t have mobile companion apps to help with tours, although to be fair, the Museum of Civilization is apparently the first in Canada to have anything like it. The War Museum is under common management, so it seems to be the next most likely candidate for a mobile tour guide. Links below will point you to both the new BlackBerry app and the iPhone app that came out late last year, or you can visit their mobile page for more deets.
