T-Mobile is looking to lure away iPhone owners with the HTC HD2, a phone that has already been selling pretty well without any help. Between April 1 and May 19, participating T-Mobile outlets will be offering upwards of $350 towards and HD2 when trading in an iPhone, and will give at least $100 credit. A few business reps and the call-in center will apparently offer the same deal, but it all hinges on the old phone being in reasonably good shape.
This is actually pretty good timing on T-Mobile’s part, as there will doubtlessly be a couple of people looking at their iPhone with disdain after playing with their shiny new iPad. Since it runs Windows Mobile, the HD2 can do some sweet stuff, like, say, be a Wi-Fi hotspot for the cheaper version of the iPad and offer the saime degree of connectivity as the 3G iPad. Even on its own the HD2 is a beast with a 4.3″ touchscreen, 1 Ghz processor, and a 5 megapixel camera – hit up our hands-on review of the HTC HD2 for a closer look. Of course, the main downside is that the HD2 will likely not be getting the Windows 7 update, but if you can live with that, and won’t miss your iPhone, this T-Mobile deal could be a good opportunity.
