If you’re comfortable using a refurbished device, AT&T has a sweetheart of a deal on right now for the BlackBerry Bold 9000. Normally priced at $299.99 on a 2-year contract, the same device (in white or black) is now available for free. Yes, you’ll need to purchase a minimum $30/month data plan, and the device IS a refurb, but like I said, if you don’t need that minty ‘out-of-the-box’ feeling… this is a solid offer.
AT&T assures us that the 9000 is ‘independently tested and reconditioned’, although I wasn’t able to find any details as to the actual testing or reconditioning process. In terms of warranty you’re looking at 90 days. Typical for a refurb.
The Bold 9000 remains a favorite among many BlackBerry users, mostly due to its solid build and wonderfully easy-to-use keyboard. It’s a joy to type on.
