Talk about multi-tasking. This guy (HyperX) managed to make his Samsung Omnia HD run a total of 62 apps at one time! The Symbian S60-powered device runs a custom (HX-V4-Speed-SE) firmware, meaning you won’t be able to repeat this with your off-the-shelf phone. But if you’re brave enough (and have the necessary technical skills), you could install this firmware on your Omnia HD to make it perform like no other smartphone can. The mentioned firmware clears all the crap from the phone’s RAM, leaving a total of 194 MB of available RAM at start-up. To put this number into perspective, that’s about 11 times more than the start-up RAM in the original software — one wonders why Samsung haven’t been able to clean more RAM on its once flagship device, but that’s another story. Anyway, this result is impressive, but as I said – not everyone should give it a try.
Finally, if you don’t believe the Samsung Omnia HD could do this, there’s a demo video proving the point. That’s after the jump of course.
