Somy Ericsson has just released two simple phones with an ear for music: the Zylo and Spiro. As you can see, both are sliders with the traditional numeric keypad, and come preloaded with social networkins apps, like Twitter and Facebook, as well as TrackID, for when you can’t quite put your finger on the name of that song.
The Zylo, that pink one on the right, has a neat feature where you can play an audio file in the background while you’re taking a call, either to share some music or to pretend you’re somewhere else. Sneaky. Also, the Zylo supports the high-grade, lossless FLAC format, for the true audiophiles out there. Specs-wise, it’s not really explosive: 3.2 megapixel camera, GPS, 3G, stereo Bluetooth, and a 2.6″ QVGA display. The Spiro, the green one on the left, is slightly lower-grade, including a 2 megapixel camera, FM radio, and a 2.2″ QVGA display. On the bright side, it seems like the Spiro has a 3.5 mm headphone jack, while the Zylo is stuck with that proprietary nonsense.
Both will be available in a variety of colours in “selected markets” come early third quarter.
