Sports Tracker now compatible with Nokia’s touch phones

Remember the Nokia Sports Tracker? We covered it on IntoMobile for quite a few times in the past. It used to be Nokia’s own project and then it was spun off in a separate company – Sports Tracking Technologies, founded by the software’s original creators – Jussi Kaasinen and Ykä Huhtala.

Enough history. The point is that the new version is out and that it’s compatible with Nokia’s touch-enabled smartphones with integrated GPS — including the Nokia N97, N97 mini, X6 and 5230.

The official application description goes like this (from the Ovi Store):

Train better with the award-winning Sports Tracker app. Your phone becomes a full-featured GPS sports computer, keeping track of everything from calories burned while running to your average cycling speed over altitude. You get maps, time and distance calculators, step count, and even heart rate when you use a compatible HR belt. All data is stored in a diary so you can chart your progress, find your strengths and weaknesses, and share with others. Millions of downloads worldwide – join the team.

Earlier versions of Sports Tracker allowed users to upload their data to the accompanying web service and compare the training results with the rest of the world. At the moment, this version doesn’t have that feature, but will be included soon. If you try to upload some data, you get a message saying: “our completely renewed online service for easy sharing and enhanced data visualization will be launched later, stay tuned for an update.” In the meantime, you can always export your data to a number of formats…
