Now we’ve seen some expensive phones in our time, and this one isn’t going to find its way as a pay as you go phone anytime either. Ulysse Nardin is known for making very high- end watches (read: expensive). To us, we know them for making high-end phones. Very high end. The Chairman, Ulysse Nardin’s first venture into the phone world is worth a pretty f*cking penny, and now they’ve recently come up with a ‘refresh’ that has a higher spec sheet, and runs Android!
The Chairman is touted as the world’s first “hybrid” smartphone, with a touchscreen and a full numerical keypad. This thing looks like a solid built device. As well it should, as it could cost anywhere from $12,800 and $49,500. (Two, please!) The updated Chairman sports a 3.2 inch capacitive touch screen, an 8-megapixel camera, 32 GB of internal memory, and a fingerprint reader. It supports HD video playback, but no word if the device can actually record HD video. We’d think it would, especially if you’re paying that much for it.
The Chairman also comes with some standard Google applications, YouTube, Google Maps, Gmail, Google Talk and Facebook are all preloaded. Although the Chairman runs Android, the exact OS version is not disclosed on the website. The device should get up to 8 hours of talk time, and 30 days of standby time.
Another cool feature of the Chairman is it’s Nardin Rotor kinTetic power system and Crown. With the crown, you can place it on the back of the device and wind it up, to generate additional electrical power to the battery. Now that’s just damn cool, if you ask me. But I’m not sure if it’s 49 G’s worth of ‘cool.’ There are an assortment of colors, as well as precious metals, that you can get the Chairman in, so you know you’re device will be ultra unique. Not that you’d have to worry about that – there will only be 1846 of them produced.
So any of you rich bastards out there getting one of these? We’d love a review unit, and if you could we’d prefer the stealth black version of the device, just so you know.
