
Just in time for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, Nokia is teaming up with Pepsi to launch the Ovi Store football channel with exclusive content such as entertainment, apps and information from the “world’s most recognized football content providers.” In its official press release, Nokia touts the new channel as an “ultimate football fan destination.”
Here’s a sample of what kind of content you can download from the channel:
- Great Goals: Free audio and video clips
- News apps: Livemobile Football, ESPN Soccernet and Goal.com – all of which are available as free downloads.
- Games: Real Football 2010, Real Football Manager 2010, Speedhero Multisport.
- Touchnote: takes digital pictures and makes them into physical postcards.
- Social networking: Apps like Nimbuzz and Buddycloud should help you keep in touch with friends (i.e. where are they watching the game).
- Ovi Maps: you know what’s it all about, right?
In addition, as part of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa campaign, you will be able to grab Pepsi’s charity football anthem “Oh Africa” from the Ovi Music Store.
Finally, the Finnish company is also launching the Nokia Skill Dribbler competition. To win, skill dribblers have to show off their skills to avoid tackles and keep control of the ball for as long as they can to accumulate points.
