The Nokia N8 that was announced yesterday, and sadly isn’t due to hit store shelves until September of this year, packs a camera sensor that Nokia claim to be larger than anything else on the market. Whether or not consumers know that a large image sensor is required for better photos is up to debate. They see things like 12 megapixels and think to themselves “ooo, bigger number is better”! A massive advertising campaign educating the public on what else should be factored into deciding what’s required for awesome image quality could be the solution … but that’s money many companies don’t want to spend right now.
All that aside, here is the first video to come out of a Nokia N8, shot in 720p, and supposedly untouched:
What do you think? Pretty impressive for something that’s not yet final. Bit concerned about the frame rate however. 720p @ 25 fps simply isn’t a standard. I’d understand if they wanted to do 30 fps, but couldn’t due to performance issues, so why not make it 720p @ 24 fps, which is a standard that many video editing programs use?
