We’ve seen this device floating around the net since early March. Now we are hearing that LG’s first Snapdragon Android phone will be hitting Verizon this Summer.
In case you don’t remember the LG Aloha, it has a full QWERTY keyboard, Snapdragon processor, Android 2.1, 5 megapixel camera with 720P HD video capture, and is WiFi N capable. The navigation ball, pad, whatever you wanna call it, looks misplaced and like a pain to use. It’s all pushed to the corner of the phone. Who knows, maybe LG got it right, but I know I like symmetry. This will be the first LG Android phone to hit the US, and it will be on Verizon, which is apparently the carrier to be on nowadays.
LG has made some solid devices in the past, but most of their devices are in the low to mid range area, never getting much into the smartphone arena. From what we know about the Aloha’s internals, it’s going to be one impressive high-end Android smartphone – the specs read like a dream. It may be no Droid Incredible, and nowhere near as sexy looking, but the Aloha looks like a solid effort from LG, and hopefully we’ll see more like this from them.
I can’t say I’m particularly excited about this phone. I’m sure it will be a great device, but I’ve been waiting for LG to blow us out of the water with a stunning high-end Android device. The Aloha, while powerful, looks sort of toy-like. HTC has been flowing LG out of the water recently, but hopefully the Aloha will be successful as LG’s first push into high-end Android devices. I don’t know what I’d do if their follow-up goes backwards to Eve status.
The Aloha adds one more Android device to Verizon’s growing Android portfolio. I’m wondering if they will let the Incredible push through the Summer along side the Aloha, or if they will release a new Droid phone. I’d say they will probably stay with the Incredible as the new flagship phone for the time being. Until Fall, at least.
