Things were looking up for those anticipating the Bell BlackBerry Pearl 3G. Dummy units had arrived, a launch date of May 13th was planned, and all was rosy. At least it seemed that way. If you were hoping to get your hands on the latest greatest handset in the BlackBerry Pearl series from Bell, it’s time to ‘hurry up and wait’.
An internal Bell document leaked to our friends at MobileSyrup details a statement reading:
Launch date: delayed until further notice (was planned for May 13, 2010).
No explanation was given for the delay. Could be a network issue, could be a supply issue… We may never find out, but when the revised launch date does hit us, I’ll be sure to pass on the word.
If you can’t wait any longer, well, too bad for you, because there’s no other option. TELUS just let me know the 9100 is coming by ‘the end of May’… which is contrary to some early May reports I’ve read around the web. Rogers and Virgin Mobile are also said to have dummy units, so one would expect the Pearl 3G to make an appearance on most major Canadian carriers by the end of the month. If Bell is your carrier of choice and you were banking on the May 13th launch, you’ll have to wait a little bit longer for the 3.2MP camera, 360×400 display, WiFi 802.11, and SureType-packing device. Hold steady. It’s coming, I promise.
Looks like things are shaping up for an end-of-month BlackBerry Pearl 3G launch… on your Canadian carrier of choice.
