Not sure if you heard the news on this or not, but the New York Yankees have banned the iPad from Yankee Stadium. The decision was made to protect the ‘safety of Yankees Stadium occupants and property’… Um, ok. It’s the Yankees’ stadium, they can make up whatever rules they want. Let them be.
Doing a complete 360, the Hudson Valley Renegades (a short-season Class A baseball club) have introduced a promotion chalked-full of awesomeness. It’s called ‘iPad Mondays’. The whole idea is this… If you were shunned from Yankee Stadium due to the iPad under your arm, no worries. Pop on by Dutchess Stadium in Wappingers Falls, New York with iPad in-hand. At the gates you’ll be greeted with a smile and free general admission to the ball game. On top of that, staffers at the stadium will also help you setup and/or update your Facebook, Foursquare and Twitter accounts on your iPad.
Whomever came up with this promotion is a genius. Sure, they’ll have to let in a bunch of people for free, but I have a feeling not too many folks were knocking down the doors to get in to watch their local Class A ball team. At least this way, they’ll get in, have a few beers, spread the word via Twitter, Facebook, etc… and everybody wins.
iPad Mondays at ‘The Dutch’. I love it 🙂
