Did the HTC Droid Incredible just get rooted? Nope.

To gets our hopes up, someone impersonated a developer to say that they have successfully rooted the HTC Droid Incredible. Well, we’re here to tell you that there is no root for the Verizon Droid Incredible just yet, but it shouldn’t be too long until we see the real thing.

Yep, some loser decided to pull a fast one on the dev community, and all the Android mod/hackers around. This isn’t the first time this has happened, as recently we heard that the supposed Xperia X10 root was faked as well. This shouldn’t get users thinking that it will never happen, though. If the device is good enough, and the Droid Incredible is “that good,” it will eventually get rooted. The nicer the phone, the more attention it gets from the developers. And, more attention from devs means that more of them will be working on a way to get the thing rooted. So, while it may not be rooted at the moment, it may just take a little more waiting before you can add heavy back-end customizations, themes, and mods to your heart’s content on your Droid Incredible.

The Incredible is very similar to the specs of the EVO, give or take some specs. The Incredible has a video-out option, just not through an HDMI port like the EVO. If it’s to be believed, the EVO has already received root, thanks to Google giving 5,000 of the devices away. Rooting the Incredible would be a nice leg up, enabling tethering and hotspot features, giving it even more EVO-like features.

So, to the loser who pulled the fast one. We suggest you stick to typing on a computer, because it looks like you wrote your ‘We have root!’ note with a pen sticking out of your ass.

Stay tuned, as the real deal may be coming down the pipes any day now.
