Early last month, Google Maps for Android updated with the new biking directions that had come to the existing web service. Today, BlackBerry gets in on the fun, along with a few other goodies. The local search function has been redesigned a bit, and now includes a Share option, so you can send information about businesses to friends via e-mail or SMS, and even attach a picture taken from your BlackBerry if you want to be extra helpful.
The last version of Google Maps for BlackBerry included a ton of new stuff, like voice search, Buzz, a terrain layer, and saved searches. Buzz, Google’s answer to Twitter and Facebook status updates, has been pretty nicely implemented with Maps, though I don’t find myself using it too often at all. Sharing location through something other than Latitude, however, is a great addition. Not all of my friends are into the high-end mobility, so being able to text them my location with minimal fuss is great.
