MyTown for iPhone and iPod Touch Updated to Version 4.0

MyTown 4.0 for iPhone and iPod Touch

MyTown, the extremely popular iPhone game played by over 2 million people worldwide has been updated… to version 4.0. If you’ve never heard of or tried MyTown before, it’s basically a location-based social game that allows you to buy and own your favorite stores, businesses and hangouts. Using your iPhone’s GPS, the game will list businesses in your area. It’s up to you to ‘check-in’, and when you do, you’ll be given the option to buy. As more and more users visit the business its value will rise… This is kind of cool because you can then collect rent, earn more money to use in the game, and buy more locations! Think of this as virtual Monopoly of sorts!

At any rate, I suppose I should get back to the update here. MyTown 4.0 brings a number of user interface enhancements and features. The first of which, is item creation. It works sort of like Civilization (if you’re familiar with the legendary series). You can create items if they are made available by a certain property (much like how you can only build certain units or buildings depending on your progress and cash reserves in Civ!). But creating items is only half the fun. The other half comes into play when you can actually TRADE your items with friends.

A new Trading feature allows you to swap items. Doing so is easy, all you need to do is tap the items button on your home page, and then the ‘trades’ sub-tab. It’s fairly self-explanatory from there. Once there you can request a trade with a friend, and even trade multiple items at one time. After you set the trade, you’ll see the status change to ‘open’… just head back to this screen to view the status of all trades… it’s quick and easy to manage… and if a new trade comes your way, all you have to do is tap the green ‘accept’, or red ‘cancel’ buttons. That’s it!
