Here’s a statistic that’s going to get lost in the flood of Apple news due to shortly hit: Ovi Mail, the service that Nokia builds into their mobile phones, now has 10 million activated accounts. No word as to how many of those accounts are active, and what the definition for active really is. I have an Ovi Mail account. I made one just so I could see what the service was like. I logged on once, maybe twice, and that’s about it, and I bet many people did the same thing.
Anyway, it’s a good day for the team at Nokia that built Ovi Mail … or maybe it isn’t since Nokia recently announced that they’re dumping Ovi Mail and going forward their solution is going to be powered by Yahoo! Mail.
Cynicism meter is reading off the charts right now.
