HTC Droid Incredible root now available – Root your Verizon Droid Incredible, if you’re brave enough

The Verizon HTC Droid Incredible has been rooted, for real this time. Last time we heard this, we found that the supposed root for the HTC Incredible was nothing more than a bored loser impersonating a real developer. Thankfully, we’re seeing a legit root for the HTC Incredible – the only problem about this new root method is that it looks pretty damn difficult. You may be better off waiting for the UnrEVOked team to cook up something that’s a little more user-friendly, but the brave among you can root your Incredible today!

What you need to do is getting ADB (Android Debug Bridge) working in the recovery of the Incredible. If I’ve lost you already, don’t go through with this. Seriously, if you’re not familiar with ADB, you’re not going to want to mess around with the Incredible root.

This root method was made by the UnrEVOked team – the same guys who brought us the EVO patch that re-rooted the device after the OTA SD card fix. So while you may be able to achieve root right now, I’d honestly wait until this method gets a little tuned up and ready for some real action. Even when going to the project page, it says, “Currently, we don’t know how it happens, but sometimes ADB starts while the system is booting in recovery.” That’s a lack of confidence I would not be taking a chance with. This is not to say these guys aren’t great, they’ve been considered the “iPhone Dev Team for Android,” and that’s saying something.

But, if you just can’t wait any longer, and are willing to reflash your phone from the beginning all over again if you bungle your pursuit for root, go right ahead. Again, if you’re not all that Android-savvy, you may want to wait this one out. In either case, this is awesome news for Droid Incredible owners, as now you may add custom ROMs and hacks to your device when the mods start coming out. A rooted phone has much better chance of getting Froyo much sooner than waiting for the official OTA update from HTC and Verizon, especially if it’s skinned with Android UI customizations like the Sense UI.

If you’re ready to give it a go, hit up the link below to get some root, and remember to proceed with caution.
