Last week I eagerly published an article that referenced a piece I read on NFC World that said Anssi Vanjoki told a room full of people that all Nokia smartphones would get NFC in 2011. I had my doubts as to whether or not that statement was correct, and I went ahead and pinged Nokia’s press folks, but of course they hate my guts as much as Steve Jobs hates Gizmodo … and with that my request for truth went unanswered.

That is until I read a piece on Light Reading earlier today that said, and I quote:
“Vanjoki didn’t say NFC would be in all smartphones, as most reported, but that Nokia would start to incorporate the technology into its Symbian^4 portfolio next year.”
I immediately pinged the author of that piece, and she was nice enough to tell me that her source of the above statement came from a Nokia spokesman.
So there you go. Sorry I got your panties all wet. NFC has been a technology that has been giving me half mast for a while now, so my eagerness to believe Anssi’s statement got the best of me.
Damn you Anssi.
