BBGPSGolf App for BlackBerry Updated with Cool New Features

BBGPSGolf App for BlackBerry

I’ve long been a user of Golf GPS Applications for mobile devices. Over the past couple of years I’ve tried them all… From GolfLogix to GreenFinder (GreenFinder was one of the original Golf GPS apps for BlackBerry, and it’s still going strong today), these apps provide quite accurate yardage information to help get you around the course in as few strokes as possible. Sure, I’ve talked to local pros and other low-handicap golfers and most of them swear by SkyCaddie (a stand-alone unit that uses measurements generated by walking the actual course!), but for my purposes, Golf GPS apps that use satellite imagery are accurate enough. Heck, I’m not consistent enough to hit my clubs plus or minus 2 yards either way… A few yards off in my GPS is not going to make a big difference.

ANYWAYS, I’m rambling a bit. The point of this post is to alert other BlackBerry users of an update to a Golf GPS App for BlackBerry that you may find of use. The Free BBGPSGolf app has been updated with some cool new features. The app itself lets community members map out local courses using their choice of Google or Bing maps. It can be kind of fun… Sit down, find your course, plot out the holes. Neat stuff. To date the BBGPSGolf app has over 10,000 fully mapped courses. So, while it may not have as many as some of the other big players out there, it still does have quite a whackload of tracks. And, if your favorite course isn’t in there, no worries. Just map it yourself!

New features in the latest version of BBGPSGolf include Twitter integration (Tweet about that birdie you just made), and shot marking. It’s kind of neat, you can mark a shot, and it will generate a URL. Paste the URL into your mobile or desktop browser to view the shot on Google Maps. Neat-o! Other key updates include:

  • Download over a Public MDS (BIS) connection.
  • Edit Club Distances.
  • Skins side game (within the score card screen)
  • Record stats to scorecard csv file.
  • Added Tell A Friend within the Hole Screen.
