As expected, the Nokia E72 has been announced on Telus. The E72 went official last June, so it’s a little late, but the E71 that launched with Telus’ HSPA network could probably use a little refreshnonetheless. The N97 Mini launched on Rogers last week also gets a nod in the press release for spearheading Nokia’s summer push in Canada.
The E72 builds upon the E71’s excellent reputation as a business smartphone by upping the camera to 5 megapixels, adding 2 Mbps HSUPA, and cranking the processor speed up to 600 MHz from 369 MHz. It still has a front-facing camera, Symbian 3rd. Edition, 128 MB of RAM, GPS, Wi-Fi, 3G, and a QVGA 240 x 320 display, however. The E72 has yet to make an appearance on Telus’ online store, so we don’t know how much it’ll cost or when it will be available (Mobile Syrup is saying July 11), but considering T-Mobile’s pricing of the nearly-identical E73, we can expect Telus’ E72 to go for $70 or so on contract.
If you’re thinking of picking one up, be sure to take a look at our hands-on videos with the E72.
