Thanks to the smart folks of Nokia Research Center in Beijing, China – Nokia touch-enabled smartphone owners got a new app for enjoying video clips while on the go. The existing media player that comes pre-loaded with any S60 5th Edition still works just fine, but if you want to skip certain scenes it can be a pain. Actually, pretty much any media player out there (not just for Symbian S60) works in a similar fashion.
Enter Nokia Video Cuts. Still in beta, this application uses what they call “key frame extraction technology” to separate a video’s key scenes, allowing you to browse from one screen to another. In other words, if you’re watching something for the second or third time, you will be able to quickly skip boring parts of a video!
Nokia Video Cuts generates a number of thumbnail images that represent scenes of the video. Then you simply tap on some image and voila… that scene starts. Love it and I’m sure you’ll share the love as well.
Hop over to this page at Nokia Beta Labs website to download the app. Or even better, check out how it works from a demo video below. Enjoy! 😉
