One tiny detail we overlooked in Apple’s last statement confirming the iPhone 4/iOS 4 reception problem was “if you are not fully satisfied, you can return your undamaged iPhone to any Apple Retail Store or the online Apple Store within 30 days of purchase for a full refund.” Apparently this includes a change where Apple Stores won’t charge the usual 10% restocking fee, in this case $19.90 for the 16 GB iPhone 4 and $29.90 for the 32 GB version.
It seems doubtful that this modest olive branch will stop the class action lawsuit dead in its tracks, and if Apple really wanted to make nice with irate customers they would give out bumpers to fix the antenna problem, but that’s also unlikely. Good thing there are cheaper alternatives. Still, any lefties out there peeved that they can’t hold their brand new iPhone 4 without dropping a call will be a little less irritated upon hearing that Apple is waiving their customary 10% restocking fee for returned devices.
