As you know, I’m one of those people who like giving space to the little guy. Consumer Cellular is definitely a little guy in the U.S. mobile phone market, which is dominated by the big four carriers (Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile). And they [Consumer Cellular] unveiled new, more affordable data and messaging plans:
- Connect! Lite – offers 100 messages and 2MB of data for $2.50 per month
- Connect! Ready – 500 messages and 15MB of data for $5.00 per month.
- Connect! Active – 1,000 messages and 30MB of data for $10.00 per month.
- Connect! Complete – 2,000 messages and 75MB of data for $20.00 per month.
At the end, Consumer Cellular emphasized that it still only costs $10 to add a line to a family account, which then can share the benefits of these messaging and data options.
Unfortunately, no new devices were announced, though I guess Consumer Cellular’s users don’t actually care much about modern smartphones…
