The Samsung Galaxy S smartphone portfolio is a rather impressive one, but what’s a smartphone without some great accessories? Samsung Mobile has announced today a line of premium accessories for its Samsung Galaxy S phones – things like charging docks, car docks, battery chargers, etc. So without further ado, let’s get down to what Samsung is making available.
First up, Samsung is releasing both a desktop and vehicle dock for its line of Galaxy S phones. The desktop dock allows you to easily view your videos, listen to music, and display your Galaxy S phone as a digital frame which I’m sure will look stunning on its AMOLED screen. The desktop dock can also be used as a speakerphone for hands-free calls. An additional “Desk Home” application, which can be found on the Android marketplace by searching for “desk home Samsung”, acts as a perfect compliment to the desktop dock as it can switch the device’s brightness and provides one-touch access to the Daily Briefing, alarm clock, local weather, and your media.
The Galaxy S vehicle dock can be used to mount your device to either your car’s windshield or dashboard to display turn-by-turn GPS instructions. While your phone is in the dock, it can display the latest traffic allerts, location-based information and perform Internet searches by way of accessing the Google Search by Voice feature. The vehicle dock also contains a microUSB connection, which can keep your phone charged during use.
Samsung is also offering charging solutions for the Galaxy S phones. An extra 1500 mAh battery will now be made available at retail, as well as a spare battery charger with phone stand and a wall charger which charges your Galaxy S phone and spare battery separately. The charger is said to be small enough to fit in a pocket, purse or briefcase and can be used to transport your spare battery.
Last, but not least, are a lineup of protective cases, which will be available in a variety of colors, patterns, and fabrics. Screen protectors will also be made available in a three-pack which will include an anti-scratch, mirror, and privacy screens. Samsung also mentions its Samsung WMG1602 Wi-Fi HD streaming device, which can be used to stream media located on a Galaxy S onto an HDTV, but gave no further information or images of the accessory.
So, how do the accessories look, dear reader? We’ve got our eyes on the desktop dock and extra battery charger. What about you?
