The Motorola Droid 2 campaign has officially begun, and we have a new TV spot for you. It looks like they’re going the way of the Droid X, and turning users into, well, Droids.
The ad is short and sweet, and mentions only a few of the updated device’s features, such as the unified inbox, and the upgraded CPU. A feature that we weren’t completely aware of is if you start typing on the Droid 2 fast enough your skin will melt and reveal your robotic innards, so just keep that in mind.
We’re starting to wonder if the marketing push for the D2 will be as hard as the original, or if the advertising campaign will just be dispersed between both of the Motorola Android phones, the D2 and the DX. In either case, Verizon has two solid phones to battle with the likes of the HTC EVO 4G and the upcoming Samsung Epic 4G, even if the Epic 4G did miss the standard price point. The D2 may not look too different from its predecessor, but it’s really the inside that counts on this bad boy.
While the Droid 2 TV ads are just starting, I can only imagine what Verizon has planned for the R2D2 edition of the device. That will surely get some Star Wars geeks’ attention.
The D2 has one advantage over all other Android smartphones of today, and that’s Froyo. Since it’s the first Android device that actually ships with the newest flavor of the OS, you won’t have to wait for the pesky update that the competition does. That said, the original Droid and EVO are receiving the update, so the D2 doesn’t have that much of a leg up.
Give us more, Verizon! I’ve always like the Droid ads the carrier has come up with, and let’s hope they have a few more mesmerizing, cinematic ads up their sleeves.
Check it out!
