We’ve got bad news for all you Android fans looking to pick up a Motorola Droid X from Verizon – it seems Big Red is having trouble keeping up with demand for the hot, new Android smartphone and has pushed back ship dates to early September. Going on all the reviews of the Droid X, including our own, it’s not hard to see how a handset with a 4.3-inch display, 1Ghz Snapdragon TI OMAP processor, 8-megapixel camera (with dual-LED flash), 3G data, WiFi, GPS and all the normal smartphone trimmings is in high demand. Unfortunately for those of you still without an X in your hand, you may be waiting even longer to get one.
A quick check on the Verizon website shows the Droid X with a “Shipped by 9/6” badge. This isn’t the first time Verizon has had to adjust their ship dates on new Android phones, but it is the first time that we’ve seen the Motorola DX running into inventory problems. There are still customers waiting to get their hands on the HTC Incredible, which shows a ship-by date of 8/20. HTC has had problems getting enough display panels from Samsung to meet demand, and has recently announced that it will source Super LCD panels from Sony for future Android smarphone production. It’s not clear what issues are affecting Droid X inventory. It could very well be that Motorola is just seeing blockbuster sales figures that are draining their stocks.
Have you been waiting to get your own DX? Well, you can keep yourself busy by checking out our full review of the Motorola Droid X from Verizon here. You can also check out our Verizon HTC Incredible review here.

[Update]
Droid X is powered by 1Ghz TI OMAP processor, not Snapdragon. Having written 1Ghz Snapdragon as often as we do, muscle memory starts to kick in. Apologies. Post clarified.
