A cellular wholesaler out of Vancouver was selling an unbranded, unlocked BlackBerry Bold 9780 on Craigslist, showing OS 6 running (bundle 279 to be exact), complete with connectivity to the Rogers network. The Craigslist ad confirmed a 5 megapixel camera and 512 MB of RAM. They claim it’s twice as fast as the Bold 9700 because of the doubled memory, but that might be a bit of “salesmanship” kicking in.
From what we can tell, the camera and memory are the only updates the 9780 makes on the BlackBerry Bold 9700; the rest, like HVGA display, 624 MHz processor, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3G, and hardware layout are all the same. It does make us wonder if the 9700 will actually get OS 6 like RIM said, though. Considering how much of the BlackBerry 9780 we’ve seen lately, it wouldn’t be surprising to have it launch before the end of the year. Hints have pointed to an October launch on AT&T.
The sellers from a place called GSMHookup, were selling the BlackBerry 9780 for $630 so long as they were in stock.
