EA Mobile FINALLY Releases Mirror’s Edge For the iPhone

Mirror’s Edge on the iPhone has been one of those games that has utterly confused me. When the game was first announced, I was happy to hear one of the most unique first-person action titles from 2008 was making its way to the iPhone platform. Then EA released a trailer showing the game in action, and it looked pretty sweet. Then all of a sudden, EA releases the game on the iPad with no iPhone version in sight. It’s been 5 months since Mirror’s Edge released on the iPad and now, EA has finally decided to release the game on the iPhone.

If you’ve played the iPad version of Mirror’s Edge, then you’ll know exactly what to expect. Swipe right or left to make Faith run, swipe up to jump, swipe up to slide, etc. You’ll also interact with a number of obstacles that have a red highlight, such as cranes. Some obstacles will slow you down if you come into contact with them, others offer some guidance as to how to proceed though a level. The only difference between the iPad & iPhone version is the iPhone version has full support of the iPhone 4’s Retina Display which makes the game look more stunning than it did on the iPad.

If you haven’t already purchased the game on the iPad, then picking it up on the iPhone is a no brainer at $4.99. Yes, it plays similar to Canabalt, but unlike Canabalt, there’s an actual story behind this game as well as more than just jumping from platform to platform. There’s also a whole lot of red highlighted obstacles & objects! If cost is the issue, then might I suggest Monster Dash? It may not have a story either, but it’s currently one of my favorite side-scrolling lets-see-how-far-you-can-go games.
