We don’t usually post financial results of the gaming publishers but somehow Gameloft is an exception. The reason is simple – they point us to interesting trends which we (or that’s just me) think are worth sharing.
First the boring numbers – the company achieved consolidated sales of €66.6 million for H1 2010, up by 11% from the first half of 2009. Due to increase in efficiencies, Gameloft’s current operating income for the period is up 29% compared to the H1 2009, driving the operating margin from 7.6% to 8.8%. The net half-year profit stands at €5.3 million, up 140% compared to the first half of 2009!
Now the interesting stuff:
- Gameloft is one of the biggest publishers in the AppStore and continues to invest in games for Apple’s mobile platform, iPhone/iPod Touch and iPad included. The company’s AppStore revenues grew 82% during the first half of 2010.
- Gameloft will continue to support Android and will be launching its games for the platform.
- Finally, they are not forgetting the feature phone users. As a result of the progressive withdrawal of a large number of competitors (which I guess are focusing on the iPhone and Android), Gameloft will launch a number of games for Java ME-enabled and Brew-powered phones and probably dominate this segment.
