UK service provider O2 had begun rolling out Android 2.2 (Froyo) to HTC Desire owners earlier today, but have paused the deployment due to some technical difficulties users are having with installation. The same update went out through Vodafone recently, including such features as Flash 10.1 and mobile Wi-Fi hotspot support. It seems like most people are managing to get by with the installation fine, but as you can see in the forums, there are folks who have had a rough time.
The HTC Desire is a lot like the Nexus One, in that it has a 3.7″ WVGA touchscreen, 5 megapixel camera, 1 GHz processor, GPS, Wi-Fi, and 3G. It has a bit more RAM than the Nexus One (576 MB), has HTC’s Sense user interface built on top of Android, and is using a new Super LCD screen. Personally, I was really happy with the phone; check out our review, and just imagine how much better it would be as a mobile hotspot to boot.
For those concerned, I hope O2 can sort out the firmware update problems quickly, as Froyo has some good stuff in it.
