Everyone’s favorite one-click root program for HTC Android phones, UnrEVOked, has been updated after being MIA for a while. The new version, 3.21, focuses on reliability. The update is minor, but we’re glad the guys are still hard at work to give users the best experience.
The previous update was said to be a little buggy, and the delay to the this current update was likely due to this issue. Well, today it looks like everything has been ironed out, yet there’s not mention of bug fixes in the change-log, which reads,
v3.21:
Perform validation of the ‘misc’ partition before we start to ensure that it’s safe for us to root your phone
Changes timing of root process to make it more reliable (requires one extra reboot now)
There may not be new features with the newest version, but reliability is always a good thing. The required, extra reboot of the device isn’t exactly desirable, but it’s nothing to get annoyed at. You want your brand new EVO 4G to get the proper rooting treatment, right? As time goes on, the UnrEVOked team will only add more features, but it will still likely remain simple as pie. With so many other one-click root solutions out there, UnrEVOked is still the most popular amongst HTC phones.
The popular program now supports six different HTC Android devices, including the EVO 4G, Droid Incredible, Desire (GSM and CDMA), Aria, Eris, and Wildfire. Expect this list to grow as time goes on and as HTC begins to spit out more devices, and we’re hoping that the upcoming Desire Z and HD will get some one-click root action right out of the gate.
Now we know how potentially harmful rooting your phone can be, but with options like this, it’s harder not to. Hook it up, click a button , and you’re done. Not to mention it’s just as easy to unroot your phone, so you have less to worry about when you have UnrEVOked.
