ngmoco Expanding to Android Devices When We Rule Releases This Fall

This week marks the 6 month anniversary of the release of ngmoco’s We Rule, and to celebrate, ngmoco has decided to let the cat out of the bag to announce they’ll be making their way to Android devices this Fall. Since We Rule has been ngmoco’s most successful game to date, it will be the first title the company launches on Android devices.

That’s not all. ngmoco also revealed some amazing statistics regarding We Rule’s popularity.

  • So far, there are 700% more Orange Groves than there are combined orange-growing acres in Florida and California
  • So far, over 90 million social jobs have been completed for friends from 70 countries
  • So far, the players have plowed 817 billion acres of in-game farmland

If you’re an Android user who may be unfamiliar with We Rule, it’s a game that plays very similar to Zynga’s FarmVille. Instead of working on a farm, you rule over an entire kingdom. You’ll need to build different shops, farms, and homes for the people in your kingdom. As you level up, you’ll be able to expand your kingdom to allow for more structures to be built.  It also has some social gaming aspects as you can add friends through ngmoco’s Plus+ service to your list of neighboring kingdoms, to which you can visit and order various items for your kingdom.

It looks like more companies have finally started to take the Android platform more serious recently. First, Aurora Feint announces it’s bringing its OpenFeint social gaming ecosystem to Android, and just recently, EA’s CFO Eric Brown revealed the company’s plans to work on making games that are already available on the App Store to Android. With the Android platform capturing 17% of 53.4 million smartphone users in the United States, with a 5% increase from the previous quarter, you can see why game companies are now starting to see the Android market as another mobile goldmine.
