The folks of Layar’s PR team have sent me an email showcasing some of the coolest layars available, all of which should be available from the featured section of the Layar Reality Browser. Here’s what they got:

  • ARcade by HPSC – the augmented reality game that’s inspired by the legendary PAC-MAN game. You run after blinky cubes in a retro-arcade decor and get points for every cube you go through. In order to play and see leaderboards, you must register.
  • Woomba by Superimpose and Hoppala – where you help circus director Zambarini catch Woombas, while avoiding Wookies (who try to get you).
  • Message Central by DNL Pro – the medium for expressing yourself in augmented reality. You can place messages on customized 3D billboards around you and let other users can read them.
  • Surprise Me by Elipse ad – the virtual gift augmented reality app. You can either leave gifts for your friends or see what your friends have left you. There are cool 3D models, photos, audio files and text gifts planted all around you.
  • DesignerPark 3D by TAB worldmedia – which is full of 3D art and other models.
  • Navigation by G-maps – an implementation of popular Compass AR layer, visible in 2D and 3D mode, featuring a user generated orienting arrow, similar to a real compass.
  • Hotels.DE by mobile breadCRUMBS – which you can use to find a hotel nearby. There are 210,000 hotels from all around the world to choose from.

Layar is available for multiple platforms, including the iPhone, Android and Bada (Samsung Wave). Search for “layar” in the app store you use, and take it from there…
