Opera Software announced its participation in the Adobe-led Open Screen Project, which consists of more than 70 industry leaders who are working together to make Flash run on an array of platforms and devices. The maker of the wildly popular Opera Mini browser said that partnership with Adobe “ensures compatibility and easy deployment for OEM and operator customers using Opera and Adobe Flash products.”
And here comes the interesting part:
Through its participation in the Open Screen Project, Opera is making integration even better for customers deploying both Opera and Flash Player 10.1 on their mobile phones and other devices. The result is an improved user experience and faster deployments. The standards-based Opera browser delivers a single browser core engine and shared browser capabilities that can be deployed on any number of mobile and device platforms.
No specifics were unveiled but we definitely hope to see Opera Mini getting some Flash love in the near future. We know that’s possible from the “Skyfire example,” and as soon as that happens, we’ll be there to cover it in great detail. Stay tuned…
