No, we don’t know when the Droid 2 global edition will be available, but we do know that employees can start their training on it now. While this doesn’t necessarily mean it could launch very soon, we’d imagine the release will be soon enough.
For those of you not in the know, the Droid 2 global edition is essentially the Motorola Droid 2 with GSM capabilities and a 1.2 GHz processor. The extra speed will be welcomed, but we wouldn’t expect it to be that noticeable unless you’re running benchmark applications on it.
The SIM card slot and extra speed boot will also cost you a little more than what you’d pay for the original Droid 2, so you may not actually need the thing if you don’t plan on leaving the country anytime soon. Either way, we should be seeing some more information on this thing soon.
Also, since employees are now getting their training in on the handset, you can badger them until they give you some more information on the thing. Just a thought.
Is the Droid 2 global edition worth it to you?
