This might interest some of you, since the Palm Pre 2 was officially announced today for SFR in France and Verizon in the U.S., but it’s also been spotted in the FCC’s listings. We’re seeing the CDMA and North American GSM versions above, knowing full well that Verizon is getting it and unlocked versions will be available to developers.
Engadget explains the markings:
Palm’s naming convention is a little strange, so it probably bears explaining again — the “P102” tells you that it’s a Pre 2, while “EWW” indicates CDMA and “UNA” indicates North American GSM / UMTS.
Sadly, AWS doesn’t seem to be part of the second coming of the Pre, so T-Mobile, WIND users and the like will just have to settle for EDGE speeds if they’re dying for webOS 2.0. Of course, it’s likely that if you actually want this thing it’s because you’re a fan of the original Palm Pre – and that lacked those magical bands as well.
Those lucky folks in France will be nabbing this first, however, and thereby getting a real first taste of webOS 2.0 in its final form.
