If everyone can have its iPhone game, why would the boxing icon Mike Tyson be any different? And he won’t be different at all, with Rock Software preparing to release Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out in the AppStore.
In the game, you fight as a character named “Little Sammy” as he goes through 10 boxers to eventually face Tyson. But you won’t fight other famous boxers – guys you’ll fight are friends and acquaintances of John Shahidi, CEO of Rock Software. He said: “There’s my high school buddies. Tyler is a friend who was a bully; Luke is another friend who was the first of my friends to have kids; Franco (Italian boxer) is my best friend and lawyer.”
In addition to the standard fighters, we’re hearing additional characters will be available for purchase. Hence, the game itself will sell for a buck (99 cents) with the idea to make some additional money by allowing users to fight other sports starts such as Chad Ochocinco, Terrell Owens and Floyd Mayweather Jr. I guess in-app purchases are the way of the future and Rock Software plans to ride that wave…
