If you caught Mike Lazaridis on-stage back at the Adobe MAX conference in late October, you’ll no doubt remember how pumped he was about the BlackBerry PlayBook. Among other things, he noted to developers at that time that if their PlayBook apps were approved for App World inclusion BEFORE the actual PlayBook launch… they’d be eligible to win a PlayBook to call their own. Awesome for sure, especially for those developers that have existing apps. Play around with the new SDK and make it work… and voila, you could win RIM’s first-ever tablet device. Of course, it’s a little more complicated than that, but if you live and breathe app development, chances are you’re going to whip through the SDK like a grizzly bear at the all-you-can-eat buffet.
With the PlayBook clearly front-and-center, RIM has just announced a new webcast series. Going on November 4th (yes, that’s tomorrow) at 2 PM EST, the ‘Develop for the BlackBerry Tablet OS SDK for Adobe Air’ webcast is taking place. Here’s the official description:
Join this first webcast of five to explore the exciting development possibilities with the BlackBerry Tablet OS SDK for Adobe AIR. During this first webcast we’ll cover:
- Setting up your development environment
- Creating your first “hello world” Adobe AIR application for the BlackBerry PlayBook
- Packaging your Adobe AIR application for the BlackBerry PlayBook
- How to test your applications on the device simulator
- Live Q&A with experts from Research In Motion Limited and Adobe
The presenters for the webinar will be Prosanta Bhattacherjee, Application Development Consultant for RIM… and Renaun Erickson, Adobe Developer Evangelist for Adobe Systems. Should be an educational experience for developers around the globe.
Developers, it’s time to sit down at the table, put on your bib, and get ready to chow down. For more information, hit up the registration page (yes, it’s free!).
