WordPress, the super-dooper blogging platform, has reached quite a remarkable threshold regarding mobile users. According to the powers that be, over 1 million people now use one of their mobile apps. Granted, that doesn’t mean ALL of these people are using them on a regular basis (I’ve used the app on my iPhone only a few times at most), but still, that’s a heck of a lot of users (in reality, by users I bet WordPress means downloads… but still…).
WordPress has a solid and growing suite of mobile applications. They let you login, edit and publish content to your blog no matter where you might happen to be. Handy for sure, but for ‘old school’ folks like me, nothing can beat sitting down in front of a decent sized-display to crank out a story or two.
Back in 2008, the WP mobile app was launched for iPhone. Since then, we’ve seen the same app appear for BlackBerry and Android devices. Now, the same app has appeared in the Nokia Ovi store.
Big things surely lay ahead for the folks at WordPress. I have to admit, I’ve tried many, MANY blogging and CMS setups in the past… and WP still remains one of my absolute favorites. It’s easy to setup, simple to use, and extremely fun (and quick) to customize. A very powerful tool for anyone with their own blog, or anyone looking to start their own.
For more information, simply pop open the App Store, App World, the Android Marketplace or Nokia Ovi Store for all the details. Do a quick search for ‘WordPress’ and I guarantee you’ll find what you’re looking for. Happy mobile blogging… and congrats to WordPress!
Note: For anyone that regularly uses any of the WordPress Mobile applications, I’d love to hear from you. What do you like or hate about it? What features would you like to see added?
