NetQin Mobile Anti-virus 4.0 for Symbian promises even better malware protection; Do we actually need it?

NetQin Mobile launched a new version of its anti-malware software for Symbian smartphones. Version 4.0 promises to deliver a new level of security for S60 3rd and 5th edition device owners, protecting users not only from viruses, Trojans and spyware – but also preventing information leakage and backing up contacts. Moreover, there’s the “anti-lost” protection as well as anti-eavesdropping features to prevent privacy leakage.

And while all that is cool, I do wonder whether Symbian device owners actually need an anti-virus application. Sure there were some malicious apps spotted around the Internet, but if you install your apps carefully (i.e. read which resources it will be using) – there’s no chance to get a virus on your smartphone. In that sense, I assume NetQin’s software is made for novice users and not for the diehard Symbian fans who know how to deal with mobile threats…

Anyway, if you want to proceed and grab NetQin Mobile Anti-virus 4.0 for your Symbian smartphone, hop over to NetQin’s website and take it from there…
