The Context panel is about to end. The key point here is location and how to better serve customer based on where they currently are.
Some of the issues raised/discussed:
- What to do with all that data? Various location-based services are already live, but there is still so much data available about users’ behavior which is not used.
- Privacy issues stay a concern, but it is said that both operators and other parties involved in the ecosystem respect the law.
- There was a talk about a recommendation engine a la Amazon.com. In addition to location data, location-based services should also use data submitted by other people, so that a single user could get an answer to a question “where people like me go/eat/drink?”. This is already possible in some apps like Loopt, but the wide adoption would bring benefits to everyone.
And that’s about all I caught at this panel. It was certainly interesting. Next stop is Startup Launch pad and then launch afterwards…
