This is a rumor so take this with a giant grain of salt – I’m talking boulder size here – but there are some photos circulating of the almost-mythical white iPhone on the Verizon network.
The purported shot shows that the white iPhone doesn’t have a SIM card, features a slightly redesigned body to counter the Antennagate fiasco. Of course, this could just all be a big fake, as there are paint jobs to get a white iPhone and one could jailbreak the device to get the “Verizon” name to pop up. Then, it’s up to Photoshop to take care of the rest.
But, friends, it does look like the Apple iPhone is heading to Verizon in the not-too-distant future and we could see it as early as January of 2011. We’ve also heard rumors that the Verizon iPhone will have boosted specs including a 1.2 GHz processor.
It’s almost assured that one of Apple’s smartphones will land on Verizon but the white version would quite a punch in the gut to AT&T. It would be like Apple breaking up with AT&T and then going out of its way to tell all of AT&T’s friends that it’s bad in bed.
The white iPhone was introduced at the iPhone 4 announcement and many Apple employees use this device. The handset didn’t arrive at launch and was then delayed multiple times to the point where it may not even make it to store shelves.
It could the frame, or how the color diffuses with the light, but Apple just can’t seem to crank out a white Apple iPhone 4 for AT&T. Even super fans are probably done waiting for the white version on AT&T and have either purchased a standard version or will just wait the six months or so until the next Apple smartphone.
