The knock-off market never ceases to amaze me, and of course the iPhone, iPad and other Apple products seem to be the most copied. I find it interesting to see what manufacturers looking to swipe someone else’s design will do with it. Sometimes I find myself thinking, “OK, that’s not so bad, actually,” while other times I think, “Oh heavenly lord, what on Earth is that thing?!” The DroiPad elicits the latter reaction.
The DroiPad looks like a sad and tragic amalgamation of the iPhone 4 and iPad, but then the manufacturer decided to throw an even bigger curve-ball by packing Android 2.1 into the beast.
According to ClonedinChina:
t packs a 720Mhz Telechips TCC89027 chip, a 7 inches 800*480 capacitive touchscreen, Android 2.1 OS, and a 3000mAH battery. It’s storage and memory stay unkown. It supports 1080 decoding, with a HDMI port to output videos.
One has to wonder just how big the knock-off market is and how profitable these cheap gadgets are.
The DroiPad is apparently rather heavy for its size – just 7 inches – and no one knows when this thing will launch or how much it will cost. And I’d actually venture to say that perhaps no one really cares.
