The popular GPS and accelerometer enabled activity tracking tool Sports Tracker is now in version 4.0. I’m not sure such a big leap forward in terms of the version number is needed as only few things have been improved, but what do I know. On the other hand, it’s good to see Sports Tracker folks keep working and improving their baby.

Anyway, here’s what’s new in this release:

  • Ability to friend other Sports-Tracker users and share workouts with them – in other words, Sports-Tracker.com now acts as a regular social network.
  • Ability to share workouts with your Facebook buddies.
  • New indoor mode that doesn’t necessarily uses GPS – you can enable/disable it from Activity based settings.
  • Improved energy consumption estimate – Sports Tracker can use data from the Polar heart rate belt if present.
  • New night mode for cycling, jogging or walking in the dark.

And that’s about it. You can get additional information about Sports Tracker from their website and/or download the app from Nokia’s Ovi Store.
